As a former Social Studies teacher and current full time substitute in this district, Houlihan has had years of experience with the standardized tests required by Rhode Island and the neighboring states. He has had the chance to witness first hand the pros and cons of these mandatory examinations. Houlihan has discovered that the main benefit to standardized testing is its transparency, more so that these types of tests ensure that the teachers and the schools are held responsible for the proper education of each student.
